Five Most Influential Albums

ok so ..... on Facebook the other week my wife did a quiz about the five albums that were most influential in setting your taste in music. Here are my folk one not in any order.

Mr. Bojangles - Jerry Jeff Walker - the songs on this album have been listened to over and over and over.....

The Circle Game - Tom Rush - there are songs on this album that are all-time favorites UrgEfor Going and The Circle Game are two.

6 - Tom Paxton - like the above the songs go on forever......Cindy's Cryin', Forest lawn, Jimmy Newman

Songs of Leonard Cohen - Leonard Cohen - the songs on this album have special meaning because of the use of them in McCabe and Mrs. Miller.. the movie my wife and I went to see on our first date.

John Prine - John Prine - this album led me to many other similiar artists

Any comments?

  1. I did this on the criteria listed: most influential to MY taste.... In order of age - not significance. These are not my favorites, just most influential.

I have to give all the credit to my musical taste to Jaime Brockett, who turned me on to REAL music. Thanks JB.

1-Gordon Lightfoot "Dream Street Rose" (Heeeelllo. This ain't Rush or Alan Parsons Project. Don't listen to this stuff anymore, but that's where my folk journey started.)

2-John Gorka "Land of the Bottom Line" (Uhhhhh, so this is what real songwriting is... Wow.... Must. Give. This. Some. Thought. Wow.)

3-Bruce Cockburn "Stealing Fire" (my introduction to the musical poet laureate of our time)

4-Blue Rodeo "Five Days in July" (still my vote for the best top-to-bottom album ever)

5-Fred Eaglesmigh "Drive-In Movie" (Honest, REAL, well crafted songs by a most underated, underappreciated artist.)
